Ferrari’s first-ever electric production model, the Luce, will have a “tactile-first” interior that is the work of former Apple designer Jony Ive and the LoveFrom design collective he co-founded with Mark Newson, another Apple alumni.

After releasing the first interior teasers in February, Ferrari has now dropped a new interior walkthrough video for the Luce, offering the best look yet at the cabin and a taste of the experience the driver will have interacting with the vehicle controls.

Right off the bat, the difference between the Luce’s dashboard and existing EV interiors is crystal clear. The new cabin features many tactile controls instead of the massive displays that have become ubiquitous on electric vehicles in recent years.

A Ferrari Unlike Any Other That Came Before It

While the Luce does have a central display, it’s square-shaped with a thick metallic edge and curved corners like an older iPhone. It’s also restrained in size and features typography that reminds of older iOS-era Apple design language, according to some auto outlets. The video shows that the main screen also tilts toward the driver or the passenger, according to preferences.

The screen integrates physical switches at the bottom for the climate control system, a volume knob and three shortcut buttons. Additionally, on the top right corner there are two buttons that appear to toggle between a clock, a compass, and a stopwatch displayed in the integrated round display. The video doesn’t show a single function that is enabled by touching the screen; everything is done via buttons and switches.

Ferrari

There’s a second display behind the steering wheel that houses the instrument cluster grouped into three main round areas that imitate a classic instrument panel but are highly configurable. The largest one in the middle displays the speedometer, battery charge level and range, the one of the left shows how much energy the vehicle uses or receives at any given time from the regenerative braking system, while the one on the right is a G force meter.

The cool thing about the digital cluster is it’s connected to the steering column so it moves along as you adjust the wheel to provide the driver with a clear view of the instruments.

Ferrari

Speaking of the steering wheel, it features an old-school look with three aluminum spokes but it’s also modern, using physical control pods along with Ferrari’s hallmark Manettino rotary dial, which has been repurposed for an electric powertrain, acting as a power-flow selector. The steering wheel also includes buttons for the turn signals, wipers, and a dial for the drive mode selector—the Luce features three modes: Range, Tour and Perfo.

We also get to see the startup sequence that is triggered by inserting the glass-and-leather key into a dedicated slot in the center console. The key’s e-ink display changes appearance once docked into its place, with the instrument panel lighting up after that.

Performance Worthy of the Prancing Horse Badge

SH Proshots/Autoblog

The exterior design of the Ferrari Luce remains a mystery for now, although we do know that it’s a four-door, four-seat electric super-GT. As you would expect from a car sporting the Prancing Horse badge, the performance will be spectacular. Ferrari has so far said that the Luce features a 122-kWh battery pack running on 880 volts and offering a range of around 330 miles under European testing.

The fact that it gets a big battery is reflected in the Luce’s curb weight of just under 5,100 pounds. That makes it the heaviest production Ferrari ever made, putting it on par with the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Still, the weight won’t be a problem as far as performance is concerned.

SH Proshots/Autoblog

The battery feeds a four-motor powertrain expected to deliver over 1,100 horsepower for breathtaking performance; the video shows how a launch is seen from the interior, with the 0 to 62 mph sprint taking 2.5 seconds. Interestingly, simulated gear shifts will also be on the menu for added driver feedback. The top speed is 193 mph, which is impressive for an EV.

The front e-axle delivers a total output of 282 horsepower (141 hp for each motor), while the rear e-axle produces 832 hp (416 hp for each motor), bringing the total peak power to 1,114 hp, according to Ferrari. A disconnect system shifts into rear-wheel drive to maximize efficiency—and allow the driver to slide the rear end should they feel brave enough.

The world premiere of the Ferrari Luce is scheduled for May 25 in Maranello, Italy, with production expected to start in late 2026, followed by deliveries in early 2027.

Genesis GV90 Interior Leak Reveals a Rolling Luxury Lounge https://engineicon.com/genesis-gv90-interior-leak-reveals-a-rolling-luxury-lounge/ Wed, 15 Apr 2026 02:45:31 +0000 https://engineicon.com/genesis-gv90-interior-leak-reveals-a-rolling-luxury-lounge/

A Closer Look Inside the GV90’s Cabin

The Genesis GV90 is gradually revealing more of itself, and this time, a newly surfaced video offers the clearest view yet of its cabin, especially the ultra-luxurious 4-seater coach door version. Expanding on an earlier preview of its screen-dominated dashboard, this latest footage showcases an interior that fully embraces the “mobile sanctuary” concept Genesis has been hinting at.

Drawing strong inspiration from the Genesis Neolun Concept, the GV90’s cabin combines clean, minimalist technology with classic luxury cues. Diamond-quilted leather covers much of the interior, while the second-row captain’s chairs recline deeply and provide ample legroom, emphasizing a VIP-focused layout. A detachable tablet built into the rear console manages key controls, and the lack of a B-pillar has led to inventive solutions, such as seatbelt systems integrated directly into the seats.

A Mystery Box Worthy of JJ Abrams

This newest interior glimpse adds to the growing curiosity surrounding the GV90. Previous leaks had already indicated a massive, nearly full-width display that transforms the dashboard into a unified digital surface. Meanwhile, spy shots suggested the presence of Rolls-Royce-style coach doors, rear-hinged and pillar-less, placing Genesis firmly within the ultra-luxury space typically dominated by marques like Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

That said, some elements remain uncertain. Reports indicate those striking coach doors might not reach production, even though patent filings show Genesis has developed a complex multi-layer sealing system to support pillar-less construction. Elsewhere, features like MLA headlamps, smooth body integration, and oversized 24-inch wheels highlight a design approach that values dramatic presence just as much as technical sophistication.

Almost Nothing Left to the Imagination

Bit by bit, the GV90 is becoming clearer, and it’s shaping up to be one of the boldest projects Genesis has undertaken. With earlier interior leaks, new prototype footage, and a steady flow of patent details, a picture is emerging of how luxury, technology, and design are being blended into a single flagship vision.

Even so, a sense of unpredictability remains. Will the coach doors make it to production? Will the final model keep its concept-like simplicity? With talk of bespoke versions and even a high-performance Magma variant on the horizon, the GV90’s ultimate form is still evolving. For now, attention stays fixed on the next reveal, because from the looks of things, Genesis is deliberately crafting us a story here.

2026 Luxeed S7 interior, design and features review https://engineicon.com/2026-luxeed-s7-interior-design-and-features-review/ Sun, 08 Mar 2026 23:07:57 +0000 https://engineicon.com/2026-luxeed-s7-interior-design-and-features-review/

Huawei is a name most people know for smartphones, network equipment and smart wearables. However, a while back, the tech giant decided it wanted to rule the world of electric cars as well. To do this, they teamed up with a car maker Chery to create a new brand – Luxeed.

Their first big swing at the EV market was a sedan named the Luxeed S7. This car aims to be a high-end choice for people who want a mix of luxury and smart technology. It entered a crowded market of EVs, but it brings some unique tricks to the table. And we had an opportunity to take a closer look at it – here are our findings.

The futuristic yet restrained looks

When you first see the Luxeed S7, it looks like one smooth, continuous shape. It does not look like a boxy car from the past, nor does it look extremely futuristic. It’s almost restrained in its looks as if Huawei and Chery were playing a safe game here.

The car is quite large, stretching about 197 inches in length. The front end stays simple with sleek headlights that house individual square lights. It looks mean and fast, especially if you pick the matte paint option. However, the designers made one very strange choice. They did not put a physical button on the trunk to open it. If you want to put your groceries in the 420-liter trunk, you have to run to the front seat or use your phone. For a car that costs between $35,000 and $50,000, that feels like a bit of a prank.

The interior

Inside the cabin, the technology takes center stage. A massive 15.6-inch screen sits right in the middle. It runs on Huawei’s “HarmonyOS.” The system reacts quickly and the menus make sense. Above the steering wheel, there is another 12.3-inch screen. It sits high up on the dashboard, almost like a heads-up display. This makes the interior feel very open and airy. You also get two wireless charging pads for your phones, and they are powerful 50W chargers. Most electric cars only give you one, so this is a nice bonus.

The Luxeed S7 offers plenty of room for passengers because it has a long 116.1 inches wheelbase. In the back seat, even tall people will have a lot of legroom. If you are 5.74 ft tall, you will find about three fingers of space above your head.

The materials inside feel mostly nice, with lots of soft surfaces on the doors. Surprisingly, some plastic parts on the back of the seats look a bit cheap for a luxury car. Same goes for the front, and the fit and finish aren’t really that impressive. The leather seats feel quite plasticky and the material stretches a lot. The car we had access to sat in a showroom for just over a month, and the seats were already showing signs of use – not ideal for a luxury vehicle that is supposed to be used for many years to come.

If you want to keep your kids busy, you can even plug Huawei tablets into the back of the front seats. There are also 66-watt fast-charging ports in the back to keep those tablets alive.

Performance

Speed is one thing electric cars do very well and the S7 does not disappoint here. It comes with two different power setups – the basic version has one motor in the back that makes 215 kW. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds. If you want more power, you can get the dual-motor version with 365 kW. That model is a rocket, hitting 62 mph in 3.3 seconds. Even the slower version feels very quick when you step on the gas – it moves with a silent force that makes passing other cars on the highway very easy.

During a very short drive, the Luxeed S7 felt more about comfort than racing around corners. It uses a double-wishbone suspension in the front and a multi-link setup in the back. This helps the car soak up bumps and potholes like they are not even there. It feels very stable and calm on the road.

Because it is a big car, it does not feel very light or “zippy” when you turn the wheel sharply. It is a car made for long trips on the highway rather than speeding down a curvy mountain path. It behaves like a large, heavy lounge on wheels – which it exactly is.

Range and technology

One of the best things about the Luxeed S7 is how far it can go on a full charge. You can choose between an 82 kWh battery or a larger 100 kWh pack. If you pick the single motor with the big battery, the car can travel up to claimed 531 miles. That is a huge distance for most EVs – it means you can spend more time driving and less time waiting at a charger.

We couldn’t verify the range, and that headline number is courtesy of the Chinese CLTC test, which is very optimistic. A quick conversation with a few owners suggests that the actual range is closer to 435 miles – still mighty impressive. When you do need to charge, the car handles high speeds well thanks to its 800V architecture. You can add about 134 miles in 5 minutes or as much as 267 miles in 15 minutes of charging, so you won’t be stuck for long.

The self-driving technology is where Huawei really shows off. The Luxeed S7 uses a system called ADS, which uses a LiDAR sensor on the roof to see the world. It drives very naturally – it brakes and turns smoothly just like a human would. Huawei claims it is one of the best systems in the world of electric cars today, and we see why they would.

But we found out the system can be a little too relaxed. It doesn’t nag you enough to keep your eyes on the road. You can look away for quite a while before it starts to beep at you. It was quite unnerving how long it took to notice the driver wasn’t looking ahead. Technology is great, but drivers still need to pay attention.

Who is it for?

In the end, the Luxeed S7 is a solid choice for someone who wants a high-tech sedan – as long as they live in China. It offers a great range, a very smart interior, and enough speed to satisfy most people. Sure, some of the interior buttons are hard to see in the sun, and the trunk situation is annoying, but the overall package is strong.

Huawei and Chery built a car that competes quite well with other famous EVs. It might not be the most exciting car to drive, but it is a very comfortable way to move into the future. In the busy Chinese EV market, Luxeed went for a very conservative middle ground and created something solid, unremarkable, almost forgettable. And that’s exactly what many customers want – a car that does its job quietly.
