It's Official: Mitsubishi Bringing Back the Pajero and Montero Names for its Flagship SUV

We’ve seen the trademark filings, as well as the speculative stories. Now, we can finally say that Mitsubishi is bringing back one of its esteemed names. The company recently released a teaser for its upcoming flagship SUV, and it bears the name Pajero. It pretty much confirms what’s been on everyone’s minds ever since the spy shots came out.

But here’s the interesting part. Aside from Pajero, the name Montero also appears in Mitsubishi’s official teaser. This hints at the SUV being a truly global product rather than just a region-specific model. What We Know so Far

Now that the name has been confirmed, we can slowly but surely piece together everything we know so far about the reborn Pajero and Montero. We know for a fact that it’ll return as a body-on-frame SUV, unlike the last two generations. It’ll ride on the same chassis as the Mitsubishi Triton, and the main production hub is touted to be Thailand.

Another piece of evidence pointing to Thai production is a document from Australia showing its VIN. The file showed MMA at the start of the VIN, and VINs starting with ML to MR hail from The Land of Smiles.

Some spy shots have shown bits of the Pajero and Montero’s undercarriage. A rear live axle has been seen in previous photos, ditching the independent arrangement from before. Should that be the case, it’ll be the first Pajero/Montero with a solid rear axle since the second-generation model. A previous report also mentioned that the Pajero/Montero will spawn different versions.

What We Expect

Since it’ll be made in Thailand, it’s a safe bet it’ll be available with a diesel engine. After all, Southeast Asia, as well as Oceania, is still a strong market for those. However, some regions might end up getting gas engines, such as the Middle East and parts of Latin America. A hybrid might also be in the cards given the current market, but what kind it could be remains a mystery.

The Pajero/Montero stands to benefit from tech already found in the Triton pickup. There’s the Super Select 4WD-II system that allows four-wheel drive engagement even on paved roads, as well as a terrain management system for optimized settings. Advanced driver assists are, of course, included.

It’s exciting news and all, but what are the odds of it coming to the U.S.? Given that it’ll be made primarily in Thailand, tariffs will surely get in the way of Mitsubishi’s final answer. Still, it would be great for the Montero to return stateside, as it has been 20 years since the last one was sold in the country. Fingers crossed there will be an Evolution model, too.

Jaguar has been known for its grace, space, and pace, while also constantly at risk of going out of existence. As good as most of its cars are, the British automaker just never made enough profit for true long-term survival. So, in an unprecedented move, it decided to axe all of its current cars and completely reboot its image.

The ‘Copy Nothing’ reboot has received a mixed reception, to put it lightly. But the truth is, the previous formula just wasn’t working anymore. But whatever your opinion on it is, the campaign definitely grabbed attention. Fast forward to 2026, and Jaguar is just about ready to unveil its first car for its new era.

Finally, a Name

For the longest time, the new Jaguar car has been going by unofficial names. It’s been called either the GT or the Type 00, just like the concept shown previously. Now we finally know its real name: it’ll be called the Type 01.

We don’t blame you if it sounds a bit predictable, anticlimactic, or both, but there is meaning to it. Jaguar explains that the use of the word Type refers to classic models, 0 stands for zero emissions, and 1 stands for the first model under the new philosophy.

“We have reimagined Jaguar for a new era, with inspiration from what has gone before. Our engineers have achieved this with a vehicle that looks and drives like no other electric car, yet reflects a unique provenance. The Type 01 name is part of that story – for me, the zero also signifies a complete brand reset, and the ‘1’, our first car for a new chapter, a ‘one of a kind,'” said Rawdon Glover, the managing director for Jaguar.

What to Expect

We already know some preliminary specifications. The Type 01 will have a tri-motor powertrain that will pack over 1,000 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque. The large four-door will also come with all-wheel drive and a bevy of suspension technologies to make it drive and ride like a Jaguar.

As for design, Jaguar calls it ‘modernist’, and judging by the camouflaged cars, it’ll be a boxy look with some curves thrown in for contrast. We expect the same for the interior, although not as radical as the one seen in the concept.

So far, initial impressions of the car seem favorable. But good impressions don’t necessarily translate into sales right off the bat. That said, the Type 01 needs to succeed if Jaguar wants to hang around for longer. Of course, Jaguar isn’t pinning its hopes to just one model, as there will be a full range of vehicles based on this flagship model down the line. We wouldn’t be too surprised if a crossover joins the mix.

First official images of Voyah FE reveal a high-tech electric SUV

Voyah shared the first photos of a new car known as the “FE.” This vehicle is a coupe SUV, with a sporty shape, but still sitting high off the ground. After we have seen the photos for the first time, we can say it looks a lot like the Xiaomi YU7. This new model will officially go on sale in the middle of 2026, and it is a big step for Voyah as they try to win over more drivers who want fast and smart electric cars.

The car in the photos wears a colorful camouflage wrap to hide its final look. But the wrap has big words printed on it – “896” and “Quad-LiDAR.” These labels tell us a lot about the technology inside. The FE uses a system from Huawei called the Qiankun with 896-line quad-LiDAR. It also uses the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 suite, a very smart computer system that helps the car drive itself.

Clearly, designers put a lot of work into how air moves around the FE. The car has 10 sets of ducts that go through the body and 18 different vents. It also has two grilles on the front that can open and close. These parts help the car cut through the wind easily. Two vents on the hood push air upward, and other vents near the front fenders stop the air from getting messy around the wheels. This careful design should help the car stay stable at high speeds and use less battery power.

The FE looks very aggressive and sporty. It has a large wing on the back with a hollow middle part to manage airflow. The car sits on big 21-inch wheels, and behind those wheels, you can see large sport calipers. Every part of the outside serves a purpose, from the tiny vents to the large rear spoiler.

According to the company, the FE has a total of 32 sensors that act like extra eyes for the driver. This list includes four LiDAR units that use lasers to see the road. It also has three radars in the front and two in the back. To make sure nothing is missed, Voyah added 11 high-definition cameras and 12 parking radars.

Voyah is a brand owned by Dongfeng, the second-largest car company owned by the Chinese government. Voyah has become very popular lately. Over the last year, the company sold more than 10,000 electric cars every single month. The only exception was February – because of the Lunar New Year holiday, many people in China take a break from shopping.

The FE is not the only car Voyah is working on. The company plans to release several new models soon. One is the Voyah Taishan Ultra, an SUV with an advanced autonomous driving system. The other is Taishan X8 – a large five-seater SUV. Another interesting model is a luxury van called the Everest, expected to cost RMB 500,000, which is about £53,500.

On March 20, Voyah officially joined the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. At the same time, the parent company, Dongfeng Group, is changing how it works to become more efficient. By joining the stock market, Voyah can get more money to build even better EVs in the future.

The BYD Seal 07 EV official images are here

BYD shared the first official look at its new Seal 07 EV, a fully electric version of a sedan many people already know. While it looks similar to its hybrid cousins, this model runs entirely on battery power. It is built on an entirely new e-platform 3.0 Evo.

Because the Seal 07 EV is an electric car, it does not need a big opening in the front to cool an engine. Instead, it has a fully closed front with thin headlights giving it a modern look. On the back, a long light bar stretches from one side to the other. There is even a small piece of chrome above the lights for extra visual impact.

The BYD Seal 07 EV is a large sedan – it measures 196.7 inches long, 75.2 inches wide and it stands 58.9 inches tall. The 114.2 inches wheelbase means there is a lot of legroom for the people sitting in the back seats. The car weighs a substantial 4,277 lb, but that’s pretty normal for a vehicle with a large battery.

Surprisingly, the BYD Seal 07 EV uses a single rear-mounted motor. But that motor sends 240 kW of power to the wheels – that’s about 322 horsepower which is plenty to get the car moving quickly. The Seal 07 EV can reach a top speed of 124 mph. The motor is paired with BYD’s Blade battery with a capacity of 69.07 kWh. The battery itself is quite heavy, weighing just over 490 kg.

The new BYD does not disappoint when it comes to range. According to official tests, it can travel up to 438 miles on a full charge. It is also very efficient with its energy – it only uses about 10.8 kWh of electricity to travel 62 miles.

Inside the cabin, the BYD Seal 07 EV looks like a high-tech office. The main attraction is the 15.6-inch screen that floats in the middle of the dashboard. This screen controls the music, maps, and climate. The driver also gets a small screen behind the steering wheel to show speed and battery life. Thankfully, BYD kept some physical buttons and a crystal-like knob on the center console, making it easier to change settings without looking away from the road.

Technology fans will notice a small bump on the roof of the car. This is a LiDAR sensor that uses lasers to “see” the world around the car. It is an important part of the “God’s Eye” smart driving system that helps the vehicle stay in its lane, avoid crashes, and assist the driver. The Seal 07 is expected to use the new 5.0 version of that system. We should hear more about how this system works during a special event scheduled for March 5th.
