“Be a Hollywood stuntman” is such a perfect premise for a video game. What a great excuse to weave insanely disparate situations into one narrative; obliterate the line between realistic and whimsical. This new trailer for the upcoming Stuntman Hollywood game sells that spectacularly, but even if you’re not into gaming, the clip is deeply satisfying and fun to watch.

I’m sure my fellow millennial, Gen-X, and older friends will recognize all the movie and TV references in this clip and appreciate it the most. If you’re not quite tracking, the real magic of this video is how smoothly it transitions between the musical beats associated with the shows and movies as the cars do a proverbial baton-pass through scenes.

The real heater is how The Fast And The Furious slips into Miami Vice. The way the classic Miami Vice cymbals clap in right before the iconic white Tesstarossa appears?! Absolute cinema.

If you’re too young to care about Miami Vice, you really just need to watch the intro to get the vibe. And you can skip the Colin Farrell remake completely. Here:

A new Stuntman Hollywood game is, of course, kind of double-layered nostalgia because the original games were fan-favorites in the PS2 era. I always thought it was odd the series hadn’t been rebooted, and I guess I wasn’t the only one. It’s back, baby.

As a millennial gamer myself, I find Saber Interactive‘s involvement in this new upcoming version encouraging. That’s the same outfit responsible for Snowrunner, which is a great showcase of vehicular physics.

There’s no official release date on this new Stuntman Hollywood joint, but it is being promised for XBox, PS5, and PC. And while a lot of that trailer is not actual gameplay, the studios have confirmed official movie tie-ins. “Take on iconic stunts inspired by fan favorite Universal Pictures films and NBCUniversal TV shows like Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Death Race,” according to the release.

OK, I’m going to hit “publish” now so I can watch this clip again. This is my favorite hype video in a while, and suddenly my second-favorite car game teaser ever (the 2010 Need for Speed Hot Pursuit E3 Reveal Trailer will never be topped).

What’s that? We should watch that again, too? OK, fine:

A United Airlines flight from Venice struck a light pole and seemingly grazed the top of a tractor trailer as it touched down in Newark on Sunday afternoon. Somehow, the truck driver suffered only minor injuries, and nobody on the plane was hurt.

There has been some confusion as to whether the plane struck the pole, and the pole alone made contact with the truck, or the plane hit both. New Jersey State Police said in a preliminary investigation, per WABC-TV New York, that both “a landing tire and the underside” of United Flight 169 did in fact make contact with the top of the truck’s trailer. Photos acquired by WNBC show damage to the plane, including a gash in its body and scuffs along a tire’s sidewall. The felled pole apparently hit a Jeep that was also traveling on the NJ Turnpike.

Amazingly, there is dashcam footage from the truck itself, which you can see in the ABC News video embedded below. While it’s certainly alarming, it doesn’t give us much insight as to what’s happening outside the vehicle. We hear the howl of a closing plane, see the driver look up and, in an instant, there’s a loud crash and the camera tumbles to the ground.

United flight hits light pole while landing

The driver was thankfully able to pull over and receive medical attention for cuts on his arm due to shattered glass. The plane held 221 passengers and 10 crew members, all of which made it off unharmed in an otherwise safe landing. The plane, a Boeing 767-400, was said to have “sustained only minor damage,” and the National Transportation Safety Board is currently gathering information to figure out precisely what happened, as is the Federal Aviation Administration.

The truck was operated by Baker’s Express, hauling baked goods for the H&S Family of Bakeries. H&S owner Chuck Paterakis initially told ABC News that “the trailer is not damaged, and the bread product was not touched,” though, given the apparent force of the collision as we can see from the footage, it’s hard to believe how the truck could’ve emerged unscathed.

United Airlines issued a statement, saying, “We will conduct a rigorous flight safety investigation into the incident and our crew has been removed from service as part of the process.”

More drivers are taking more along with them by installing trailer hitches.  On cars they offer added convenience of towing small trailers or adding bike racks without resorting to awkward roof mounts.  Trailer hitches also open tons of possibilities for work or play when connecting them to RVs, SUVs, trucks and vans.

Like any equipment application, trailer hitches made for your specific vehicle should be reasonably straightforward to install.  There are still plenty of things to consider and follow in the process.  Once you have confirmed the proper setup and capacities with your vehicle owner’s manual, follow these tips for a safe and trouble-free installation.

Proper tools.  Forget what you’ve inferred from infomercials; there is no single substitute for a full set of tools.  Trailer hitch installation is not one of those times to make like MacGyver and get creative.  Have every tool you need at the ready before you begin.  If you don’t have something called for in the instructions, get it.

Follow along.  Just as you’ll want to gather every needed tool beforehand, give the instructions a good read and follow them to the letter.  The trailer hitch may be designed to fit your vehicle, but that doesn’t mean it won’t require preparation or even slight modification.  You might have to adjust the exhaust system a little, so don’t tackle this when the muffler and tailpipe are hot, for example.   

Keep it there.  If your trailer hitch installation doesn’t stay secure, all your work is for nothing.  Prop the hitch or use C-clamps to keep it level and in place during installation.  As you torque the hitch bolts for their final setting, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use a thread locking adhesive.  Even with lock nuts and washers, it’s an extra measure of assurance.

And when you recheck the bolt torque periodically, clean off built-up dirt and try to spot any bare metal.  Minor scrapes to the trailer hitch are bound to happen even with everyday driving, so with a clean surface, give the scuffs a quick hit of spray paint to give better protection from rust.
